Goals in either half spearheaded GTIC to narrow 2-1 victory over Lodge Secondary at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary when the Digicel Schools Football Championships continued yesterday.
Stephon McLean opened the scoring in the fifth minute for Lodge who had the better first half in soggy conditions although the sun was out in all its glory. Heavy early morning rain had forced a late start to the proceedings and puddles were evident towards the Western goal area.
GITC’s Jamol McPherson guided a corner kick over the head of the goalkeeper for the equaliser even as Lodge continued to enjoy more possession on the slippery surface.
The second stanza was much the same as first half before Seon Cummings headed in a corner in the 75th minute to make the score 2-1 and spark a period of intensified action from the GITC lads as a rapid succession of unsuccessful shots on goal prevailed.
