Guyana suffered their third straight defeat in the Regional Under-17 tournament when they went down to the Leeward Islands by 20 runs yesterday. Ross Powell stroked nine fours and one six in a top score of 90 and got support from Casey Cartey 25 (3×4) as the Islanders posted 212-9 off their allocation of 50 overs batting first.
Daniel Lewis claimed 3-13 from 8 overs while Brandon Persaud took 2-48 from 6. Guyana who dropped four catches responded with 192-9 in 49 overs. Kemo Paul led with 53 (4×4) while Keano Harry supported with 36 (3×4 1×6) and Persaud 35.
Alzari Joseph captured 4-31 from 10 overs; Guyana’s Ryan Adams retired hurt after being just above the knee by Joseph. Meanwhile Barbados defeated Windward Islands by 40 runs; Barbados scored 220 then restricted Windwards for 180, and Jamaica overcame Trinidad and Tobago.
