West Indies middle order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan said he hopes the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will develop into a long term event. Sarwan was speaking during a CPL press conference held on Saturday at Duke’s Lodge Hotel in Kingston.
Sarwan stated that the tournament will be an exciting one and it is a good opportunity for the younger players to showcase their talent. “It’s similar to the Indian Premier League and our players can gain knowledge from the overseas players. It is also a good chance for the youngsters to develop themselves,” added Sarwan.
Sarwan thinks Guyana have a very good chance of winning the competition. We have some exciting players and I think we can go all the way,” he said.
Sarwan indicated that his goal is to assist the other players. “I will try to help the younger players and support my team mates, of course I want to score runs and help my team win,” Sarwan concluded.
The Caribbean Premier League is expected to start on July 30 in Barbados.
