All the top volleyball players and clubs in Berbice are expected to be in action today when play serves off for the much anticipated Third Annual Trophy Stall Inter Club volleyball competition for teams affiliated to the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA).
Top class action is expected to unfold when play begins at 09:30 hrs.
The event, which was push back from its previously planned date of June 23rd, has given the teams more time to prepare and sharpen their skills.
The venue has been shifted to the Guysuco Training Centre Courts in Port Mourant (PMTC).
The competition will be played on a round-robin basis and is expected to attract teams from the following clubs – PMTC, Port Mourant Jaguars, Albion Sports Complex, Falcons of Canje, Union- Renaissance Sports Club of No53 Village, Vikings of Blairmont and 3Doors Strikers of D’Edward as well as a team from the Berbice Under-19 Squad.
Trophies will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male teams and to the 1st and 2nd placed female teams. Prizes will also be presented to the MVP in both categories as well as to the best setter, best spiker, best server, best defence, best blocker and best libero.
Owner/Managing Director of the Trophy Stall, Mr. Ramesh Sunich is expected to be on hand to serve off the first ball and assist with the presentation of the prizes. (Samuel Whyte)
