Contrary to a report in the Friday edition of Kaieteur News under the headline “Speaker censures family-related heckle in the Nat’l Assembly, Robeson Benn Jr was not charged with assaulting his former girlfriend.
The story was rooted in an incident in the National Assembly when an APNU Member of Parliament heckled Minister of Public Work, Robeson Benn.
The article stated that the junior Benn was charged with assault after he had allegedly raped and beaten his “ex” girlfriend.
Kaieteur News therefore apologizes for publishing that inaccurate piece of information and for any harm caused.
