Forward Steven Sankar fired in 5 goals as Chase Academy hammered Business School 8-1 in their Digicel/Powerade Schools’ Football match yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
Chase Academy dominated possession from the onset and their attacking play paid dividends when Sankar gave them an early lead when he fired in his first goal in the 15th minute. Sankar was again on target four minutes later when he collected the ball from just outside the 18 yards box and blasted it past the goalkeeper.
Chase Academy continued to overpower the Business School as the latter failed to keep up with the flow of former. Sankar achieved his hat-trick when he found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
The Business School seemed as though they were content with just defending and their few attempts to move forward were halted by Chase Academy’s midfield. Sankar wearing the number 9 shirt continued to be too hot for the opposition to handle and was again on target in the 31st minute when he weaved his way past two defenders to register a helmet-trick.
Midfielder Ryan Watson stretched the lead on an assist from Sankar in the 35th minute before Carl Semple scored two minutes later.
The Business School pulled one back just before half time when Ken Peters headed home in the 39th minute as Chase Academy went to the break leading 6-1.
After the interval Sankar continued to mesmerize his opponents with his nimble footwork and he was again on the score sheet 50 minutes on, blasting home his fifth goal from just inside the penalty area.
The Business School however looked more determined and made several raids at goal forcing a number of saves from Chase’ custodian. David Britton nailed the final goal of the evening in the 68th minute to give Chase Academy the win.
