Over at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Ground, Carifesta Avenue, Hakeem Bynoe netted five glorious goals in the 8th, 17th, 35th, 55th and 90th minute, with support from Thomas Damani (65) and Thomas Diarra (20) to inflict a 7-1 drubbing over Central High School. Rashawn Charles saved some face for Central High with a 23rd minute effort that merely lightened the embarrassment a mite.
Bynoe was the exceptional player from the onset and the whistle had barely sounded when he wended his way into the opposition’s half and converted with relative ease. Less than ten minutes later, he emulated the feat after latching on to a loose ball just outside the box.
Central’s goal came after one of their players was fouled inside the box and that team converted from the penalty spot. The goal merely served to rile up Marian’s academy star player, Bynoe, whose response came shortly afterwards after he had dexterously wended his way down the right flank to increase his team’s advantage right up to the intermission with the score on 3-1.
Bynoe continued his rampage upon resumption and his determined effort resulted in an onslaught of two more goals with only his team mates, Diarra and Damani’s effort disturbing his flow. Indeed, the game was a one sided affair with Marian academy looking the more compact unit and enjoying a larger percentage of ball possession. Central’s woes were further amplified when Tafari Mussenden received his second yellow card and was given marching orders merely 4 minutes to the end. Bynoe intensified their misery with a stinger that breached their goalie a mere ten seconds to game time.
