Guyanese Rawle Green cops 3rd; will not compete at GABBFF Seniors
Former National Sprinter turn Bodybuilder Rawle Green who now resides in the United States of America and is also a WNBF Pro, on Sunday last in the Land of the Flying Fish, Barbados, placed third in the PRO Men category of the WNBF/INBF 2013 Pro/Amateur Universe Show held at the Queens Park Steel Shed.
Urged on by a large group of Guyanese supporters from the Fitness Paradise Gym, numbering close to 30 persons, Green flexed his way to his best ever placing in the two years he has been competing as a PRO.
Green was able to gain the nod of the judges for the bronze medal in a category that saw the US athletes dominating, 1st (Gerry Ruck), 2nd (Joseph Farese), 4th (Kevin Lofy) and 5th (Johnny Jones).
In an invited comment, Green said that he was happy with his performance in Barbados which saw his doing better than his 4th place last year.
Having won his PRO card in 2011, Green is debarred from competing at the GABBFF’s Senior competition which is set for next month at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
While acknowledging that being Mr. Guyana would be a great achievement, the dedicated natural athlete believes that Guyana has a number of young promising bodybuilders and with the right training regime, focus and diet; they can achieve their dream of becoming Mr. Guyana.
Green had won his PRO Card at the Mr. America show in 2011 and did four (4) PRO shows last year where he placed 4th in three (3) of those shows and 7th at the World Championships.
On the distaff side, winning the WNBF Figure competition was Shalom Singer with Christy Abrams 2nd and Ashley Drews, 3rd.
Green is extending best wishes to all the athletes that will be competing at the GABBFF’s Senior’s, next month.
Green informed that the next competition he is targeting will be the INBF Natural Summer Explosion Championships set for October 19 where he placed 4th last year.
The World championships on November 8-9 is also on his radar while the athlete who is now competing heavier than before might be heading to his home land in December for the Flex Night International Show on December 8th.
