The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) yesterday hosted another successful BMX Cycle Meet at the National Park Inner Circuit in observance of Olympic Day 2013.
While the activity was short, it wasn’t short of excitement as the BMX riders sought to out duel each other.
Christopher Griffith after suffering a loss to Jamaal John in the first race of the day, BMX Open (5-laps), retuned the favour in the final race of the day over 3-laps which Griffith won in 9 Minutes 26 Seconds.

John had taken the opening race in 16 Minutes 05 Seconds. Cleveland King placed third in the first race while Adrian Sharma took a similar position in the final race.
The youngest competitor on the day, 5 year-old Alexander Leung placed third in the 6-9 event which was won by Sherwin Sampson in 3 Minutes 10 Seconds ahead of Jeremiah Harrison.
Rashedi Ceres took the top spot in the 9-12 2-lap contest in 6 Minutes 34 Seconds, Tarun Gabaharan was second.
In the 12-14 race, crossing the line in a winning time of 6 Minutes 17 Seconds, was Rawle Small followed by Bryton John and Keon Harris in that order.
The first to third placed riders were all rewarded with trophies compliments of the GOA.
The event was graced with the presence of GOA President and Secretary K.A Juman Yassin and Hector Edwards, former President of the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) whose current President Cheryl Thompson was also in attendance.
Edwards in brief remarks congratulated the participants whom he said he was heartened to see while encouraging them to stick to the sport with a view of doing themselves and Guyana proud in the future.
Thompson also complimented all while singling out the youngest competitor, 5 year-old Alexander Leung.
