Slain soldier’s alleged lover detained
Akini Sampson
Police have detained a woman in connection with the murder of Lance Corporal Akini Sampson, who was found dead in his Lamaha Springs home last Friday.
The woman is said to have been the slain soldier’s lover and police have received reports that Sampson and the woman’s husband had at least three altercations over her.
Some of Sampson’s relatives have claimed that the woman was seen entering his house last week Wednesday, which is the day that he was last seen alive.
Kaieteur News understands that detectives are also taking further statements from Sampson’s stepson, who found his body after prying open a window and entering the locked house.
Sampson was found lying face-down in his bed around 01:00 hrs last Friday. A post mortem revealed that he had been struck twice in the head and had suffered a fractured skull. Death was due to shock and haemorrhage.
Investigators believe that he knew his killer and may have let the individual in.
