The South Turkeyne Sports Committee (STSC) will be holding a 5-a-side small goal football competition and penalty shoot for Father’s Day which will attract teams from the East Coast of Demerara, Georgetown and East Bank this Sunday, at the National Cultural Centre Tsarmac starting at 09:30 hrs.
In other action also slated for Sunday, Queen’s College Under-20s will take on Bishop’s High and Redeemer Primary will face their counterparts from Meadow Brook Primary in an Under-13 affair. Balls for the matches will be provided by West Indian Sports Complex.
Trophies and cash prizes have been donated by Business Foundation, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr. Frank Anthony, Trophy Stall Bourda Market, Melbourne Inn, Jai Persaud, Region 4 Neighbourhood Democratic Council, Tracy Lewis, Mark Phillips, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Robert Persaud, Roysdale Forde, Joseph Harmon, GFF President Christopher Matthias and Ramige Mohamed.
The committee will also be holding a fund-raising Father’s Day walk-a-ton on Saturday from starting at the Square of the Revolution to the National Park from 06:00hrs at $200 per mile. Proceeds will go towards elderly blind fathers and elderly fathers in Sophia and Vryheid’s Lust. Hampers will be donated by Ricks and Sari Agro Industries ltd.
