Yesterday, Kenneth Lynch, 28, of 119 Third Street, Alexander Village, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates Court to answer to the charge of simple larceny.
On June 6, he allegedly stole one Blackberry phone, one SIM card and one memory card from Angela Abdool of East Ruimveldt. He pleaded guilty. “I stole it on my way home,” was his explanation.
On the day in question, the complainant was on Ruimveldt Public road and was seen speaking to someone on her cell phone. The accused then came from behind and snatched the instrument.
The victim held on to the accused but he managed to escape her grip. She then made an alarm and police who were nearby gave chase. They apprehended Lynch at Riverview, Ruimveldt, a search was carried out on him and the phone, SIM card and memory card were found on him.
He was positively identified as the person that robbed her. She recognized the cell phone recovered to be hers.
Lynch who continuously apologized to the court for his actions, was subsequently fined $50,000 or three months’ imprisonment.
