The 44-year-old Vergenoegen woman, accused of clubbing her landlord, Azaad Ganie, 62, to death with a rolling pin, will face the court again on July 1.
Zaleena Whittington of Sideline Dam, Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court on Thursday and was remanded to prison.
Ganie was reportedly beaten to death by Whittington, a tenant. The woman, who is said to have rented the apartment three months ago, would usually prepare meals for the man. She claimed that he habitually made inappropriate advances at her. She was living with her husband and grandchildren.
The battered remains of the 62-year-old Vergenoegen resident was discovered in his apartment last Wednesday when relatives and neighbours summoned the police after suspecting that something terrible had happened to him.
