The Management of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club would like to inform the general cricketing public that the Namilco/Bakewell 20/20 tournament has been postponed until August due to unforeseen circumstances and the start of the rainy season, the club stated in a release. The club would use the available time to make all the necessary arrangements to make sure that the tournament is fully organized and be one of the best in Guyana.
The tournament has already attracted over a million dollars worth of sponsorship from the National Milling Company, Bakewell and Ansa McAl. The RHTY&SC would use the tournament to raise funds to purchase a mini-bus for transportation purposes for its seven cricket teams and charity programmes. Berbice top teams – Albion, RHTGG, West Berbice, Blairmont, Bermine, Young Warriors, Port Mourant and Skeldon would take part in the tournament which has a total prize package of $385,000.
The RHTY&SC would like to express gratitude to Mr. Bert Sukhai of Namilco and Mr. Rajin Ganga of Bakewell for their cooperation and understanding of the postponement. The club would also like to reassure all Guyanese that it remains committed to the development of cricket from the grass-root level to test cricket.
