Eight lucky COURTS customers were yesterday presented with a rewarding opportunity, that of an all-expense paid trip to Trinidad & Tobago to see the movie ‘Iron Man 3’ on Saturday at the renowned MovieTowne cinema.
The promotion, which has been ongoing for several months, was part of a bigger one, on a worldwide scale, to promote the TCL television brand.
The TCL brand is the official television provider for the Iron Man 3 movie. Hence, any customer who purchased a 32″ or over TCL television from any COURTS branch got the chance to win a ticket to see the movie. As a bonus, the eight that won were given the opportunity to take anyone of their choice along with them.
One of the winners, Eureka Giddings of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara, related that at the time when she bought her 42″ TV she was not aware of the promotion. It was not until she stepped into a taxi to leave that the taxi driver asked her if she had filled out a coupon. So she exited the vehicle and went back into the store to get the coupon. Giddings said that she had expected to be given a number of coupons, but was only given one. She added that luck must have been on her side since her only coupon was chosen. Eureka plans on taking her mother with her.
Amoretta Pitamber, a housekeeper from Essequibo was also a winner. She related that when she got the call informing her of what she had won she was very excited. The 41-year-old said that she has never travelled out of Guyana before and is very happy to be given the opportunity to do so. She is taking her sister, who also has never travelled before.
Other winners include 26-year-old Damian Todd from Bartica who will be taking his wife; Dawn Gordon of Pouderoyen who will be going with her mother, and Fabian Gopaul of Triumph East Coast Demerara who plans to take his girlfriend.
When asked how he responded to the call yesterday that informed him that he was a winner, Gopaul said, “Apart from being surprised, I was ecstatic.” About his girlfriend’s reaction to the news that the couple will be going on an all-expense paid trip to Trinidad, Gopaul said, “Is there a word more than ecstatic? Put that word.”
The company views the promotion as a way of saying “Thank you” to its customers and to show appreciation for their support.
