Following the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council Individual and Team championships at the paragon Ranges here in the Land of the Flying Fish, Christ Church, Barbados, the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council will be selecting a strong 10-Member team to contest the Australia vs the rest match at the same venue on Saturday.
So says Team Captain, Guyanese Paul Slowe who held a meeting with all the countries yesterday at the Paragon Ranges during the lunch break of the current Individual championships.
Representatives from the host nation, Jamaica, Antigua & Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana attended with Slowe disclosing that competition on Saturday will be at four Ranges, 300, 600, 900 and 1000.
The West Indies team will be made up of 10-members and 2-standbys. The criteria Slowe noted will be the performances of the shooters in ongoing Individual and subsequent Team competitions.
“I want to assure all of you the selection process will be transparent since we are looking for a competitive team. I will be consulting with all the teams along with the experienced shooters, the likes of Norris Gomez to ensure that we have the best shooters available for us.”
Apart from Gomez, fellow Trinidadian Carl Awong, Jamaica’s Denis Lee, John Nelson and David Rickman, Barbados’ Richard Arthur, ShellyAnn Hinds and Marlon King, Guyanese Lennox Braithwaite, Ransford Goodluck and Mahendra Persaud along with Antigua and Barbuda’s Anderson Perry will all be in contention for a place on what is anticipated to be a potent team.
The West Indies team will have practice session on Friday to fine tune strategy for Saturday’s eagerly awaited contest which will also see Great Britain, Canada and Channel Islands competing.
