English shooters on a high
By Franklin Wilson in Barbados
Reigning West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council Individual King Lennox Braithwaite enjoyed another satisfying day yesterday when the second day of this year’s championships concluded at the Paragon Ranges, Christ Church, Barbados.
Braithwaite, who did not drop a single point on the opening day, Saturday, dropped 3-points yesterday but was still able to end the day as the best shooter so far from the Caribbean after four ranges of competition.
Yesterday, Guyana shot in the afternoon session at the 300 Yards and 600 Yards Ranges. Braithwaite so far has an overall aggregate of 247 Points and 28 V-Bulls. His closest rival in the Caribbean is Trinidad and Tobago’s Norris Gomez, who is also President of the West Indies Fullbore Shooting Council who has an overall Aggregate of 246 Points and 16 V-Bulls.
As expected, the Great Britain shooters have been in devastating form with two of them, David Luckman and Jonathan Underwood, both very experienced and well exposed shooters, not dropping a single point after four ranges of action.
Luckman has 250 Points and 41 V-Bulls, while Underwood has a similar amount of points with 33 Vs. Two others GB shooters, Jane Messer and David Calvert have only dropped a single point to date.
Today, competition would be at the 600 (2×10) Yards and 900 (2×15) Yards Ranges, Guyana will again be shooting this afternoon, while tomorrow’s final day, the Guyanese will be shooting in the morning.
Leo Ramalho did not recover yesterday and so did not compete; Captain Mahendra Persaud said that he is hoping that Ramalho can get well in time for today.
