Left arm pacer Asif Ilahi and Shivram Persaud grabbed 5 wickets each when Farm dismantled Nandy Park by 9 wickets when action in the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association \ Goodwood 40 over competition continued recently. Also notching up wins were Uprising and Providence.
At Laluni, Nandy Park were knocked over for 45 in 12 overs, batting first. Ilahi ended with 5-14 and Persaud 5-20. Farm then responded with 46-1 in 9 overs.
At Diamond, Soesdyke overcame the host by 5 wickets. Diamond batted first and mustered 184-4 after the game was reduced to 25 overs due to rain. Terry Liverpool took 3 wickets and Ronald Jaisingh 2 for Soesdyke who replied with 185-5 in 23 overs. Liverpool returned to stroke 95.
At Diamond, Uprising defeated Eccles by 4 wickets. Eccles batted first and were bowled out for 158 in 32 overs. K. Singh made 62 and N. Bissu 32; N. Ram took 3-24 and D. Rampersaud 2-28. Uprising then replied with 159-6 in 24 overs; Roopnarine Ramsundar leading the way with 45, while T. Moonsammy supported with 35 and D. Rampersaud 20. T. Bandoo claimed 2-25 and K. Singh 2-35.
At Providence, the host overcame Laluni by 19 runs. Terrence DeChuna 25, Safraz Alli 23 and Bachan Persaud 22 were the main run getters as Providence chalked up 143 before they were bowled out in 25 overs; Reon Shuman grabbed 4 wickets and Glen Campbell 2.
Laluni in reply fell for 124 in 23.5 overs. A. Dundas top scored with 50, David Fernandes contributed 35 and J. Mohabir 22; Rakesh Segoram captured 4-15 and B. Persaud 3-22.
At Bay Rock, rain put an end to the contest between the home team and Providence. Bay Rock took first strike and posted 202-9 in 40 overs. L. Brown was their leading batsman with 35, while R. Anderson stroked 32, A. Murray 25 and S. Brown 24; Michael Realine bagged 4-35. Providence in response were 54-4 when rain stopped play.
