– elite lifters to lead medals assault; fund-raising BBQ set for May 5
The Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation (GAPF) has named a strong 13-member team including two females that will lead Guyana’s assault for individual and team glory at three upcoming International events slated for July 1 – 7, 2013 in Orlando, Florida.
Six of the team members are Elite and World rated with experience at the highest level and have all done Guyana proud at varying junctures. They will now combine efforts when they represent the Land of Many Waters at the 14th Pan American Championships, 11th North American Regional’s and 7th Caribbean Championships.
Guyana will be defending the Caribbean Men’s Team Title and will definitely be challenging for similar honors in the North American and Pan American Championships. The junior athletes will also be seeking to create history of their own.

Guyana’s oldest competing athlete Nairanjan Singh (Masters 60 – 70 Age-Group) who is based in New York will join the team in Orlando, Florida.
Meanwhile, in an effort to assist with raising funds to ensure Guyana is fully represented, the GAPF will be hosting a fund raising bar-b-que and lime on Sunday next (May 5) at Basic Beauty Saloon, North Road, Georgetown. Bar-b-que will be served from 12noon to 18:00hrs.
A raffle has also been planned and will be drawn on June 27; tickets cost $200.00 and are available at Basic Beauty Saloon on North Road, Executive and other members of the GAPF.
