A nine year-old who said she was inspired by former First Lady Barbara Bush, made a donation of books and other items to the St. Ann’s Orphanage, recently.
Little Emma Issabella Rasheed who attends the Notre Dame Catholic School in the United States said, during her interview with the former American First Lady she had a discussion about promoting literacy and this was her way of doing that.
Emma said that she plans to make this venture an annual one as she intends to follow up with the girls she met at the orphanage. She will be visiting Guyana again with her parents who are both Guyanese but migrated to the US several years ago.
Meanwhile, the recipients were very delighted by the presentation and promised to make the best of the items received.
