Got to go claims feature event, Velloza, Ashrafally stables score big wins

Got to Go of the Jumbo Jet stable went all the way and created a big upset as it whipped the field to take the feature B and lower event and run away with the hefty $1M first prize and the Berbice Bridge Company trophy presented by CEO Omadat Samaroo when the Kennard Memorial Turf Club staged their Phagwah Horserace meet on Sunday at the club’s Bush Lot Farm, Corentyne, Berbice track. to form and came out tops.
Got to Go, trained by the indomitable Deonarine “Black Boy” Ramroop with Junior Sookhan in the stirrups, took possession early as the animals were off to an even break, but it was soon realized that the horse to beat in the event was Got to Go despite the presence of the much feared Score’s Even.
Maintaining its composure and running well the animal powered into the homestretch with a lead that it maintained to the end. Score’s Even finishing fast came in second ahead of Face the Fire and Miss Karina in the 1Mile event.
The F class 7Furlongs event sponsored by the Berbice Bridge Company saw Prado’s Gold of the Ashrafally stable with Solomon on the mount winning the $350,000 top money and trophy from The Bailiff, Top of the Line and Face the Fire.
Damascus Dream of the Shariff stable with Colin Ross riding took the $300,000 and trophy as it won the G class 6 furlongs event from Top of the Line, Traditional man and Summer Classic.
Silent Night of the Shariff Racing Stable and ridden by Jamaican Brian Blake silenced its opponents with another victory to take the $280,000 winner’s money and the BBCI trophy in the Three year old event for Guyana bred horses, beating Party Time, Easy to Win and Dream Boy in the 7 furlong event.
The race for Two year old Guyana bred horses was won by Party Time, ridden by R. Drepaul ahead of Silent Night, She So Special and Summer Breeze.
Apostle with Ajai was in winners row in the ‘I’ class 7 Furlong race and took home the $180,000 first prize and trophy ahead of Pick Pocket, Prince Bayaya and De Gump.
Speed Vision with Sukhoo sped away with the J1 7 Furlong race and the $150,000 and trophy ahead of Pick Pocket, Apostle and Pixie Fire.
Smarty Light of the Velloza stable with Yap Drepaul riding won the J3 and lower event and the $100,000 and trophy.
The top individual prizes on offer compliments of Ramesh Sunich of the Trophy Stall, Bourda Market went to Jockey Ajai Sansarran. The Shariff stable rode away with the top stable accolade.

All attention will now be turned to the Jumbo Jet massive Guyana Cup Fever horserace meet on Sunday.
