Police are preparing to institute a charge of wounding against a 25-year-old man who stabbed his wife four times in the region of her back, on Wednesday evening. The woman was saved after her uncle intervened. One of the four stab wounds at the back of her neck is said to be the severest.
The assailant is in custody at the lock ups at Anna Regina Police Station even as police assess his wife’s condition.
The mother of a six-month-old baby remains a patient in the female ward at the Suddie Public Hospital.
According to reports, the man first attempted to kill the couple’s six month old baby after he was not happy with the limited privacy between him and his wife, since he lived in an extended family unit with his wife’s other siblings.
