The Enmore Cricket Club will play its first competitive match since its resuscitation against Eccles Cricket Club at the Enmore Community Centre ground from 12:00hrs today.
The 35-over game has been organised to mark the re-launch of the Enmore Cricket Club, which was recently revived by a group of citizens from the area after more than a decade of dormancy.
Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the club, Taajnauth Jadunauth, indicated that the game is expected to be exciting and urged villagers to come out.
Enmore captain Bheemraj Ramkellawan said the players are eager to step onto the field today, after spending the last six weeks in intense training at the Enmore Community Centre ground.
Ramkellawan added that while the ultimate aim is to emerge with a victory, the club will use the game to groom its younger members.
Apart from Ramkellawan, who is a front-line batsman, the hosts will depend on former national Under-19 all-rounder Adrian Persaud, former national Under-15 opener Javed Mohamed, batsman Chandraban Seemangal and fast bowler Chetram Ramlall to carry the fight to Eccles.
On the other hand, the East Bank Demerara unit will look to Johnny Azeez, Nigel Bisoo, Shawn Bandhoo, Richard Austin and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) fast bowler Gilford Moore to challenge the Enmore lads.
Prior to the start of the game, the teams will be introduced to president of the Guyana Cricket Board, Drubahadur, and a few other persons.
The Enmore XI will come from: Bheemraj Ramkellewan (captain), Chandraban Seemangal, Javed Mohamed, Vishwanauth Ramlakhan, Adrian Persaud, Chetram Ramlall, Navindra Gobin, Satesh Jainarine, Shiraz Ali, Naresh Persaud, Ranjeet Hiralall, Ramdeo Basdeo and Andy Samaroo.
