Lloyd Nurse has been accused of robbery under arms. Nurse alleged robbed Deonauth Sookram of a STIHL weeding machine valued at $60,000.
On February 27, last, at Dennis Street, Campbellville, Nurse stole the brush cutter from Sookram.
He pleaded not guilty when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman said that Sookram was riding his bicycle along Dennis Street, Campbellville when Nurse came out from a clump of bushes and pointed a handgun at him before relieving him of his weeding machine. He then escaped but was later arrested by the police.
Another person found where the defendant had hidden the machine and contacted the police. The stolen article was later recovered by the lawmen.
Nurse was refused bail until March 25.
