The football player who suffered head injuries two Tuesdays ago after crashing his motorcycle into two pedestrians has died.
Colin Edwards, 21, of Lot 14 Bent Street, Georgetown passed away at around 17:20 hrs on Saturday in the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
A brother of the footballer said that he was present when his sibling passed away.
“Everything happens according to God’s will,” he said.
The football player’s death came as a shock to his family because just a few days ago, he was removed from the life machine and was breathing on his own. He was also responding when his loved ones communicated with him.
There were hopes that Edwards would have survived the accident.
“I don’t know what to say, nobody believes this happen,” Calvin said, while complimenting the services done by the nurses who work in the ICU, “they look after him real good as if it was their family.”
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old woman, Phyllis Luckie of Lot 53 Norton Street, Lodge who was one of the victims that was struck by Edwards, remains in the ICU. Although she is still on a life machine, her condition is listed as stable.
Luckie sustained internal injuries including a punctured lung.
On February 7 last at around 20:30 hrs, Edwards was proceeding west along Norton Street on motorcycle CG3325 when he struck two women who were waiting to cross the road.
The third victim, Lydia Bishop was also hospitalized but with minor injuries. She was subsequently discharged the following day from a private hospital.
