Georgetown Softball League
Herstelling, Farm XI and Superior Woods recorded victories when action in the Georgetown Softball League competition continued on Sunday at DCC.
Playing in the open category, Herstelling defeated Challengers by 16 runs. Shameer Fazal scored 30 not out and Shafeek Ishmeal made 27 as Herstelling made 122-5 in their allocation of 12, batting first. Mithun Narine and Alvin Mann took 2 wickets each for Challengers who responded with 106-7 in 12 overs. Ravi Singh top scored with 29 and M. Singh supported with 22; R. Ramnauth picked up 2-18.
Farm XI overcame Trade Man by 69 runs. Farm XI took first strike and rattled up 174-4 in 12 overs. Patrick Khan led with 61 while Rawl Reid chipped in with 33 and Amir Azeez 32. Trade Man managed 105-8 in 12 overs in reply. Reid captured 2-18.
Herstelling registered their second victory of the day when they got the better of Princess XI by 31 runs. Herstelling batted first and posted 175-5 in 12 overs. Budhan Baksh stroked 112 and Omesh Narine made 32 as Imtiaz Mohamed snared 3-15, Ralph Yusuf 2-27 and Mithun Narine 2-31. Princess in reply made 144-9 in 12 overs. Parnell London slammed 63 and N. Beharry 23. Nai Paul grabbed 4-32.
Superior Woods trashed Accomplishment XI by 55 runs. Rajkumar Ori led with 63 and got support from Ravi Singh 31 and Cris Deonarine 23 as Superior Woods scored 149-4 in 12 overs after taking first turn at the crease. Accomplishment XI in reply mustered 94-7 in 12 overs. Navin Bissoon claimed 2-12 for the winners.
