The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) Company has launched a probe to find out how a 19-year-old electrician ended up with life-threatening electrical burns at Bath Settlement, Berbice last Thursday.
Seon Scott of Limlair Village, Corentyne, Berbice, Scott is in the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing burns to this body. He has also suffered internal injuries.
Doctors at the health institute have rated his condition as “critical.” He is said to be paralyzed from his left hand to his hip.
According to information received, the 19-year-old GPL worker was at the top of a utility pole at Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice when he reportedly tumbled from the pole with “scorches” on his body.
He was unconscious and was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital by his colleagues before being transferred to the GPHC.
Kaieteur News was unable to contact the injured man’s colleagues.
