– owner boasts of “police connections”
After a dozen attacks by a menacing Pit Bull dog on persons residing in the area, residents of James Street, Albouystown are seeking justice for victims.
The residents are calling on the Commissioner of Police and other relevant authorities to deal condignly with corrupt policemen who are reluctant to act against the owner of the vicious animal.
“The man said plainly that he got the law in his right pocket and got the courts covered. This man who owns the pit bull is a bully and residents in the area are fed up with reporting the matters to police after people are attacked. When someone dies, then the police will get serious,” one resident lamented.
On Saturday morning the volatile Pit Bull attacked its latest victim Kevin Allicock of Lot 23 James Street, Albouystown. The man was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away. A report was also filed with the Ruimveldt Police Station and the dog’s owner was summoned to the station and later released.
According to the injured Allicock, who was bitten about the body, the owner of the dog who goes by the name “Colin”, is well-known in the neighborhood and constantly boasts about having connections with the authorities.
Residents believe the boast since the dog which the owner calls “Killer” has attacked several persons already and nothing ever came out of the matters although they were reported to the police.
Underscoring this, Allicock said that when he visited the police station to give a statement against “Colin”, he was placed on the bench and then taken into the lock-ups.
It was only after the police saw the severity of his injuries and the bleeding while he was in the lock ups that he was released.
Allicock explained that the menacing pit bull strolls around the street sometimes without a leash.
Radix Russell who was also mauled by the pit bull last year said he made reports at the police Office of Professional Responsibility and the Police Complaints Authority after nothing came out of the reports he made to the Ruimveldt police station
He had suffered injuries to his lower left leg.
He explained that he was jogging in the area when the dog attacked.
After the incident Russell sought medical attention at two hospitals, both public and private, resulting in more than $200,000 in expenses
“And a day like today I was not properly compensated. The man giving excuses back and forth all the time.”
“My daughter at one time had to run away from this man dog and she scratch up she self trying to get away! This man is even got junkies coming into his yard to do business and after they done he does loose the dog on them. Nothing comes out of the matter because police visit the man business and take pay so nothing ever comes out of the matter,” one woman living in the area explained.
