– Top Cop says investigators pursuing leads
Gold miner Jason Wills was heard pleading with the gunmen who executed him last Thursday.
This is the information that investigators have received from one of the occupants of the Pine Grove, Meadowbrook house in which the 33-year-old was slain.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman who was in the house said she was in the kitchen when she heard Wills shout “Oh God, don’t do duh, don’t do duh…” before gunfire erupted in the living room.
Police had detained the woman and her son-in-law while attempting to ascertain whether they were in collusion with the killers.
They were reportedly both released yesterday.
While there has been no arrest, Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell told Kaieteur News that investigators were “working on some leads” and were hoping to effect arrests.
The occupants of the Meadowbrook residence have told police that they were watching television with Wills, but that they both went into the kitchen some 30 seconds before the gunmen barged in.
They also claimed that they had not seen the killers. A source said that the occupants also claimed that they had left the front door open that night because the air conditioning unit had malfunctioned.
It is alleged that the killers entered through that door after scaling the fence.
