West Indies middle order batsman Assad Fudadin slammed three sixes and similar number of fours in a top score of 53 as bad light stopped play in the national team’s final warm game against Rest XI yesterday at the Everest Cricket Club.
The Guyana team batted first and posted 216-4 after the game was reduced to 35 overs due to a late start caused by overnight rain.
Fudadin and Leon Johnson added 47 for the 3rd wicket after they lost Trevon Griffith who was bowled by pacer Brandon Bess for 18 at 56 and Rajendra Chandrika for 30 (1×4,1×6) at 58. Johnson hit two fours and one six in scoring 26 before off spinner Zaheer Mohamed had him caught and bowled.
Fudadin then featured in a fourth wicket stand of 61 with Steven Jacobs before he was asked to retire. Christopher Barnwell played a little cameo hitting one four and two sixes before he was dismissed for 20, Jacobs ended unbeaten on 45 which contained three fours and two sixes while Rajiv Ivan was on 06 not out as Bess, Keon Joseph, Andre Stoll and Mohamed picked up one each.
The Rest XI reached 112-5 when play was halted after 25.2 overs. Pacer Ronsford Beaton sent back Robin Bacchus for 04 at 13 before Richard Ramdeen and Tagenarine Chanderpaul took the score to 57 after which Ramdeen in trying to stepped up the run rate was bowled by Jacobs for 31(4×4,1×6). Chanderpaul then featured in a 3rd wicket stand of 47 with Vishal Singh before they were both dismissed for 30 each in the space of 06 runs. Singh accounted for four fours; Ricardo Adams was the last wicket to fall when he was caught off skipper Veerasammy Permaul for 03. Play was then called off with the Rest XI needing 104 in 9.4 overs. Permaul took 2-30, Beaton 1-10 and Jacobs 1-25.
