The national selectors retained left arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul as captain of the Guyana team for the up coming West Indies Cricket Board 50 over and 4 day competitions; the teams were selected on Monday. Talented left hander Leon Johnson was named as his deputy for the 4 day team, while Christopher Barnwell is the vice captain for the 50 over format.
The 4 day squad also includes young Tagenarine Chanderpaul, opener Rajendra Chandrika, Amir Khan, Assad Fudadin and Keon Joseph who is expected to partner the ball with the exiting Ronsford Beaton.
Surprisingly omitted are Sewnarine Chattergoon and Zaheer Mohamed; both players turned in outstanding performances in the current GCB 4-day Inter County tournament. Essequibo allrounder Ricardo Adams, who hails from Wakenaam, has been named in 50 over team which also includes Paul Wintz and Chandrika.
A release from the GCB stated that Ramnaresh Sarwan and Narsingh Deonarine will be on West Indies duties and will be selected based on their availability, while Shivnarine Chanderpaul was given an NOC to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League but will join the squad upon his return. The release also indicated that due to the new WICB competitions rules and format makes it possible for participating teams to make a maximum of three changes every time the competition changes format. This is the first year that the two competitions will be played simultaneously. The selectors also named 15 stand bys.

The Manager is Mr. Alvin Johnson and the Coach is Mr. Esau Crandon.
The following players are asked to be on standby for possible selection later in the tournament.
