In anticipation of a busy year, the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) will be holding its AGM this Sunday (Jan 27), at the Port MourantTraining Centre in Berbice, starting from 10:00 hrs.
According to a release from the Federation, among the topics to be discussed are the details of the successful engagement between newly elected FIVB President Dr. Ary Graca, CSV executives and GVF President Lennie Shuffler which took place late last year in Rio, Brazil.
The release added that the GVF is gearing for a busy year and will be rolling out its four-year Development Plan which also includes contributions from the Brazilian Volleyball Federation, one of the leading countries in all forms of the sport. Shuffler in an invited comment said that once the Plan is approved some of the arrangements could see both the male and female national teams participate in CSV tournaments with support from FIVB, CSVand CBV, while training for referees, coaches and adminstrators in addition to support for the sport to be played in schools, within communities and the strengthening of beach volleyball are alao part of the Development Plan.
Exchange visits between Block members Amapa,Cayenne, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Roraima, at all levels will be encouraged with Guyana hosting an International Invitational Club Tournament late October or early November 2013. The theme for the development plan is “Development through Activity”.
