The Guyana Baseball League (GBL) weekend of activities got off to an encouraging start with 32 (thirty two) youngsters going through their paces. Try outs for the male U-15 division continue today from 10:00am.
There are 4 teams with 20 places per roster available. The baseball field is located at Area C Turkeyen with the entrance on the Rupert Craig Highway.
Players born on or between January 01, 1998 and December 31, 2000 are eligible for this competition. Players are asked to wear appropriate sport clothing. No other equipment is necessary.
The Adult Softball team (Green Machine) had its first game against the US Embassy Tigers on Saturday the 12th. It proved to be a learning experience for both teams as the Green Machine charged to a 10-4 lead before losing in the last inning.
A thoroughly fun day was had by all attendees with girls and boys as young as five years old being introduced to the game.
The Girls actively participated and are working towards gaining enough numbers
to get their U-15 division off the ground. The GBL once again urge all players and parents to avail themselves of this opportunity to participate in this exciting sport.
