The search for 79-year-old Vibert Wilfred Solomon, who has been missing since early December last, has finally ended as his partly decomposed body was pulled from the Mon Repos Backdam last Saturday evening.
His family members positively identified his body at the Le Repentir Cemetery yesterday.
Also known as ‘Stove man’ and ‘Buggy’, Solomon’s disappearance had left his daughters in grave trauma.
According to one of his daughters, she awoke at around 04:00 am one morning only to find the front door to her Lot 11 Cemetery Road, Railway Line, Triumph home sprawled open, and her father missing.
The former military man’s family told Kaieteur News that he had a tendency of leaving home without informing them; however, he would always be taken back home by a relative or friend.
Ever since he was discovered missing, Solomon’s family had been combing various villages on the East Coast of Demerara where they thought he might have been.
Solomon was said to have been an active individual who liked taking strolls.
A post mortem examination will be performed today to determine the cause of his death.
