Four of the six victims involving a boat collision, on Wednesday, will be laid to rest at Charity, today. Vincent Singh, 40; boat Captain Harrinarine Bhagwandeen, both of Abrams Creek, Upper Pomeroon;10-year-old Amrita Singh and her brother, 14-year-old,Rajkumar Singh, formerly of Charity Housing Scheme.
Vincent and Bhagwandeen are cousins, while the two children were Vincent Singh’s niece and nephew.
Boat Captain Harrinarine Bhagwandeen, Vincent Singh, Rajkumar and Amrita Singh, Zelda Rodriguez and her son Shawn Anthony, died moments after the boat they were traveling in was struck by a boat owned by the Region Two Administration.
Initial reports have indicated that the boat belonging to the Region and piloted by one “Buddy” was returning to Charity after a journey to St. Monica when the collision occurred.
They had gone to St Monica to deliver notebooks to residents as part of the one laptop per family programme.
Bhagwandeen died on the spot. The other passengers died hours later.
“Buddy”, the driver of the Region’s boat, has been released on $60,000 station bail. Police have said they are seeking advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.
Meanwhile, the lone survivor of the ill-fated boat, Eli Orlando, 12, is talking. He remains a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital.
The authorities say that he does not know that his mother, Zelda and brother, Shawn Anthony, died in the crash.
