GCC and Hikers have made it to the final of the Veterans category in the Annual Diamond Mineral Water International Indoor Hockey Festival following the completion of the penultimate day yesterday, at the National Gymnasium.
Hikers ended the group at the top after amassing the most points, while GCC secured the final berth after finishing second in the points standing.
Action in the Veterans clash between Old Fort (red jerseys) and Hikers yesterday at the National Gymnasium.
The other two categories will have to wait until today to decide the two finalists.
In yesterday’s results:
Ladies
Malvern lost to Toronto Academy 1-3.
For Malvern, Sheran Carbalis netted in the 27th minute, while for Toronto Academy Kir Shier scored a brace in the 7th and 22nd minutes and Chelcie Mendonca added the other in the 39th minute.
Magnolias hammered Hikers 7-3.
For Magnolias, Stacy Sui Butt slotted in a hat-trick in the 5th, 22nd and 37th minutes, while Savannah DeFratias( 5th), Daniella Grando (18th), Mika Tang (23rd) and Gaby Prmell (37th), all contributed to the win.
Avonda James (21st), Cora Towler (32nd) and Maria Munroe (39th) were the players on target for Hikers.
Toronto Academy came from behine to draw 5-5 with Magnolias.
For Toronto Academy, Kri Shier (5th), Chelcie Mendonca (24th), Kaelan Watson (30th and 38th) and Ally Evanshyn (39th) were the players to enter the scoresheet.
Magnolias goals came from Mika Tang (3rd), Stacy Sui Butt (13th and 36th), Elise Olton (16th) and Brianna Govia (23rd).
GCC crushed Malvern 4-0.
Kerensa Fernandes (5th and 40th), Ashley DeGroot (20th) and Trisha Woodroffe (34th) were the players to secure victory.
Veterans
Caribs went down to Fatima 0-4.
For Fatima, Shawn Ming (8th) and Dean Nigels hit in a treble in the (8th, 11th and 27th).
GCC beat Malvern 3-1.
For GCC, Devin Hooper (11th), Philip Fernandes (12th) and Peter Jones (19th) were the men on target.
Malvern’s lone response came from Ralf Watson (21st).
Hikers edged Old Fort 3-2.
Hikers got their goals from Timothy Jonas (7th), George Melville (14th) and Tristan Gomes (19th) while Ivor Thompson and Gavin Hope scored for Old Fort in the 11th and 22nd minutes.
Men’s
Renegades lost to GCC 2-6.
Shane Samuels netted in the 17th and 32nd minutes for Renegades.
For GCC, Kevin Spencer (7th and 27th), Devin Hooper (17th and 25th), Steven Xavier (26th), and Orland Semple (39th), completed their tally.
In Friday’s results:
Ladies
Bokras were trounced by Toronto Academy (1-11)
Sandy Ramnarine’s 26th minute strike was the solitary response.
For Toronto Academy, ChelcieMendonca (3rd and 40th), Lavern Lawson (13th), Kaelan Watson (17th, 17th, 19th, 35th and 39th), Kir Shier (24th), Ally Evanyshyn (32nd) and Emma Wingrave (37th), all combined to heap misery on Bokras.
Magnolias then inflicted a similar beating on Bokra 12-4.
For Magnolias, Brianna Govia hit in six goals in the (4th, 21st, 27th, 32nd, 33rd and 34th), Stacy Sui Butt supported with (8th, 14th, 30th and 37th), while Elise Olton (15th) and Nika Tang (17th) rounded out their tally.
For Bokra, Carol Caine (23rd), Athena Seeanon (25th), Sandy Ramnarine (30th) and Aliyah Gordon (32nd).
Toronto Academy and GCC tied 3-3.
Toronto Academy’s goals came off the sticke of Kaelan Watson (7th), Emma Wingrave (8th) and Lavern Lawson (29th), while Gabriella Xavier (3rd) and Sonia Jardine (19th and 36th) ensured that GCC drew the match.
Veterans:
Malvern lost to Fatima 2-5.
For Malvern, Sonia Alexander (14th) and Ralf Watson (24th) were the two players on the scoresheet, while Fatima’s response came from Colin Young (2nd and 17th), Neil Lashley (4th) and Dean Nigels (11th) and 27th.
Caribs lost to Hikers 0-5.
For Hikers, Brian Asregado (9th and 13th), Devin Munroe (17th), Sheldon Corlette (18th) and George Melville (26th) were the players on target.
Men:
GCC crushed Old Ford 7-3.
For GCC, Orland Semple (2nd and 9th), Devin Hooper (10th and 36th), Kevin Spencer (30th and 40th) and Steven Xavier (35th) efforts secured victory.
The finals is set for today, at the same venue.
