Play in the Mayor Hamilton Green birthday 7-a-side football tournament continues at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground next Friday after heavy rain left that venue waterlogged for today’s scheduled continuation.
The organiser decided to shift action to next Friday and the fixtures remain the same.
Pouderoyen will tackle Goed Fortuin in the first of several matches starting at 19:00hrs.
In all, eight exciting matches are billed for the night including Stewartville up against Sara Lodge, Uitvlugt take on Eve Leary, while Den Amstel comes up against Kuru Kururu. Tucville will also play Alberttown moments before West Ruimveldt Estate tackle Grove. Tiger Bay will then oppose Newtown Kitty, while Sophia will cap the night when they oppose Kingston.
Consequently, the qualifying teams will progress to the next round for action in the quarterfinals, the semifinals and final.
The winners of this tournament will cart off $200,000 and a trophy, while the runners up win half that amount, also with a trophy. Ricks and Sari has also donated several food hampers to be distributed to members of the winning team, while Retired Colonel, Laurie London has donated a set of footballs for the entire tournament.
