A traffic police rank attached to the Springlands Police Station, while working on regular traffic stops in the vicinity of the Scott School at Number 76 Village, Corriverton, stopped motor car HB 7123, a silver grey Toyota 212.
He said that he noticed that the occupants were acting suspicious.
One of them had a black bag resting on his thigh. As the unarmed lone rank asked the driver to step out of the car the other occupants left the car and made good their escape. But they left the bag that contained one sub machine gun and two empty magazines. The driver in custody is known to the police for transporting criminals.
