Home team Grove Hi Tec defeated Craig FC 7-0 when play in the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-14 knock-out competition kicked off on Sunday last at the Grove Playfield.
From the start of the match the intentions of the home team was made quite clear as they scored in the first minute, Antone Stanton getting his name on the score sheets first.
Craig was able to hold off Grove for some time but scored against themselves in the 25th minute thereby doubling the lead for Grove. Thereafter the Craig defence was beaten almost at will with the first of a hat-trick off the boot of Joel Dick coming in the 35th minute.
Dick sent the ball sailing into the back of the nets again in the 40th and 60th minute. In between his goals, Nickali Matthews netted in the 45th and 55th minute to complete his double.
Competition is set to continue this Sunday at the same venue.
