The body of 34-year-old Royston Moore, a shop owner of Bamboo Landing and of Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, was found at about 06:00 hours on Monday at White Creek, Matthew’s Ridge, North West District. According to the police, the man’s body bore gunshot injuries.
Moore’s sister, Candace Vandeyar, who spoke with this publication, said she received the news early yesterday morning. According to Vandeyar, she last spoke to her brother in July of this year, but last saw him in April.
The woman said her brother never indicated to his relatives that he had any problem with anyone. She said his remains were positively identified by his reputed wife and a cousin who were visiting the area.
Vandeyar related that she had not been given any further details, but was simply informed that her brother’s body “was found on a roadside with gunshot injuries”. She said the relatives have not received any other information. The woman added that she expected to make contact with the police again sometime later today to make arrangements for the body to be flown to the city.
“They told us that they might be doing the post mortem up in Port Kaituma and after that we may have to receive the body,” Vandeyar said.
Kaieteur News was told that investigators are currently in the location conducting investigations.
