Berbice rider Neil Reece recorded one of his biggest wins when he pedaled to victory in the Ounce of Gold Road Race held yesterday in memory the Imam of the Bartica Masjid, Kader Mohamed.
The race, which pedaled off at Homestretch Avenue, proceeded to Long Creek on the Linden Soesdyke Highway before returning to the starting line for the finish, saw Reece, Alonzo Greaves, Paul DeNobrega and Raul Leal breaking away from the pack on the upward journey.
Reece was followed to the line by Greaves, DeNobrega, Leal, Raynauth Jeffrey, Michael Anthony, Jude Bentley, Eric Sankar, Ian ‘Deaf Boy’ Jackson and Akeem Wilkinson to close out the top ten.
The top four juniors were DeNobrega, Leal, Jeffrey and Anthony while the top three veteran’s under-45 was Jackson, Junior Niles and Curtis Williams.
Shameer Baksh took the number one spot in a close sprint home to the line with old rival Kennard Lovell and Raymond Newton in that order.
