Queensway \GCA 50 over Cup – semi finals

Georgetown Cricket Club and Demerara Cricket Club are set to renew their rivalry when they clash in the final of the Georgetown Cricket Association\ Queensway Cup 50-over Competition. Both teams registered 7 wicket victories in their respective semifinal matches which were played last Sunday.
At DCC, the home team, led by Christopher Barnwell defeated Everest Cricket Club. The visitors batted first and found themselves in trouble at 35-5, however Zaheer Mohamed 34 (1×6, 1×4), Joseph Perry 33 (2×4, 1×6) and Saheed Mohamed 23 (2×4, 1×6) saw them to 147 before they were bowled out in 42 overs. Barnwell grabbed 4-24 off 9 overs, while Andre Stoll took 2-18 off 8 and Omesh Danram 2-12 from 3.
Barnwell then smashed eight sixes and five fours in a top score of 81 and was ably supported by Andrew Lyght jnr 27 (2×4, 3×6) and Gajanand Singh 17(1×4) as DCC won the game in 21 overs ending on 149-3. Amir Khan picked up 2 wickets for 44 runs for the Everest.
At Bourda, GCC made light work of GNIC. GNIC took first strike and found the going tough against purposeful bowling led by Robin Bacchus 4-22, Joshua Wade 3-13 and Raj Nanan 2-13, and were skittled out for a paltry 85 in 23.2 overs. Sean De Souza made 19. The home team in reply then lost 3 wickets including that of Ramnaresh Sarwan who was bowled by Collis Butts without scoring, but Leon Johnson cracked an unbeaten 40 (3×4,2×6) and Vishal Singh 25 not out (3×4) saw them to victory in 18.4 overs as they ended on 87-3. Butts finished with 2-35.
Meanwhile in the super eight games which were contested on Saturday, DCC, GCC, Everest and GNIC recorded wins.
At DCC the host raced to victory by 7 wickets over Gandhi youth organization.
GYO 171 all out in 38 overs. (Kamesh Yadram 84, Pravindralall Persaud 34, Ryan Shun 24, Andre Stoll 3-26, Chris Barnwell 4-37). DCC 172-3 in 24.3 overs. (Barnwell 59, Andrew Gibson 40no, Trevon Griffith 27).
At GDF, GNIC defeated Transport by 4 wickets. Transport 186 all out in 47 overs. (Carl Rambharose 65, Sherwin McPherson 38, Azim Azeez 22, Raul Merell 2-41, Rayon Griffith 2-25, Orlando Fraser 2-28). GNIC 187-6 in 47.4 overs. (Leroy Bristol 48, Dexter George 42, Sean De Souza 25, R. Griffith 21).
At Everest, the host got the better of Guyana Defence Force by 5 wickets.
GDF 154 in 44.1 overs. (Amir Khan 27,Jeremiah Harris 20,Troy Gonsalves 3 for 49, Christopher Surat 2 for 16, Zaheer Mohamed 3 for 23. Everest 156-5 in 32.5 overs. (T. Gonsalves 38, Saheed Mohamed 36,Adrian Singh 30,Rajendra Chandreka 29, Shemroy Barrington 3-29 , A. Khan 2-15).
At Malteenoes, GCC overcame Police by 9 wickets. Police 118 all out in 37 overs. (Pernell London 23, Jason Heyliger 20, Trevor Benn 17,Raj Nanan 3-13, Joshua Wade 2-35,Gavin Singh 2-35). GCC 122 -1in 19 overs. (Robin Bacchus 82).
