Gordian Rollins, a convicted prisoner at the New Amsterdam prisons, who was found with a quantity of drugs after returning from an errand outside the penal institution has been questioned by police and is expected to be charged soon.
Rollins, of Cumberland, Canje, Berbice, who is serving a one-year term on a charge of burglary was among a group of prisoners detailed to work on a project outside of the prison last Thursday.
Upon their return they were checked and Rollins was found with a quantity of what appeared to be leaves, seeds and stems of marijuana concealed in a plastic bag in his crotch. He was arrested and the contents were checked, weighted and found to be 24 grams of cannabis.
He is expected to be charged soon.
