Forty-one year-old Eon Gouveia was granted bail in the sum of $250,000 after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. He appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore last Monday at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
It is alleged that on Saturday September 22nd on the La Bonne Intention (LBI) Public Road, Gouveia drove his motor vehicle in a dangerous manner causing the death of 30-year-old Abdul Zameer Abrahim.
The accused was placed on $200,000 bail on the causing death charge and $50,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Saturday evening last Abdul Zameer Abrahim was on his way home from work on the LBI Public Road when he was reportedly struck from behind. Reports are that Abrahim ended up some 40 feet away from the point of impact. A breathalyzer test was done on Gouveia at the scene of the accident.
