Defending Mackeson Smooth Moves 3-on-3 Basketball Champions, Pacesetters ‘A’ comfortably strolled into the next round of the competition against quality opposition Saturday night when the $1M winner-take-all challenge continued on Burnham Basketball Court.
Travis Burnett releases a tear-drop in the lane against Green Leaf Saturday night at the Burnham Basketball Court.
The defending champs’ quartet that included Travis Burnett, Royston Siland, Naylon Loncke and Steffon Gillis, topped the fourth Georgetown group with emphatic victories against Green Leaf and Pacesetters.
The team opened their title defence against Green Leaf, and muscled to an 8-0 lead at halftime and 19-3 win after the 15-minute regulation time expired.
Green Leaf’s composition of Kerwin Blades, who was fouled out in the last half leaving his team down to two men, Trevor McCleod and Travis ‘Cook-Up’ Foster, could not put their game together against Pacesetters ‘A’, who, more or less, had home-court advantage.
Pacesetters, another team out of the Burnham Court-trained unit, then faced Green Leaf in their second game of the night. Green Leaf had to win to keep their hopes alive in the tournament as only two teams are advancing from each group.
The two teams played to a 17-17 stalemate with Pacesetters coming out successful after the tie-break shootout, ensuring that both Pacesetters teams in the competition advance to the knockout round of the competition.
Pacesetters ‘A’ remained unbeaten in the group when they annihilated their counter-parts 21-12 in the final game of the night. The competition continued last night in Den Amstel and will shift to Linden Wednesday night for the second group in the Mining Town.
