Minerva Mc Garrell who admitted to verbally abusing her ex-lover and doubting his sexuality appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry on Thursday.
In her explanation to the court, Mc Garrell said that she had been dating “Corporal Frazer” for some time and decided to end the relationship after she became suspicious of his sexuality.
Mc Garrell said that she told the complainant, who is said to be a member of the police force, that she did not want anything to do with him. However, he would attempt to contact her every now and then, she said.
The woman said that on the day of the occurrence, she was downtown with a friend when “Frazer” approached her. Mc Garrell said that she became annoyed and ‘told him off’. He responded in the similar manner. The two persons had an exchange of words at which point Mc Garrell verbally abused the man.
After listening to the defendant’s reason, the Magistrate placed her on bond to keep the peace for one year; failure to observe the bond will result in imprisonment for two weeks.
