Dear Editor,
A few days ago I saw a notice in your publication for the Medical Council of Guyana in which the council listed the names of doctors eligible for a place on the board of the new council if so elected by their peers.
I wish to remind the Honourable Minister of Health that the Medical Practitioners Act of 1991 was amended a few years ago and there is now a legal requirement for two non-medical persons to sit on the board of the Medical Council of Guyana.
I wish to let the Honourable Minister know that I am willing to serve on the medical council should he so see it fit.
