Matches would be played over the weekends and all matches on Saturdays will commence at 14:00hrs while Sunday matches start at 09:30hrs. The final match would be contested under floodlights at the end of which prizes would be given to the three top teams. Other prizes include man of the match in the finals, the batsman with the most runs, the highest wicket taker and the player that scores the most runs.
Teams will be required to pay the umpire’s fee of $1,500 during the preliminary rounds as well as a registration fee of $5,000.
Meanwhile, ARAS Drive Your Dreams Auto Sales will exclusively sponsor the tournament and Avindra Ramnauth, son of the owner, was at the Lusignan Community Centre yesterday afternoon to hand over the sponsorship package to the organizers. Coordinator of the tournament, Rocky Ramgopaul, received the package on behalf of Mr. Bhimsain and expressed gratitude to his benefactor. He promised that activities would be conducted in a disciplined environment even as he urged members of the public to come out and enjoy every ball of the competition.
Mr. Bhimsain echoed the sentiments of his coordinator while disclosing that the tournament would provide nostalgic moments where fans may regurgitate the memories of yesterday following the involvement of several legendary personalities.
Matches will be played at several Community Centers along the East Coast corridor over several weekends.
Teams interested in participating may contact Rocky Ramgopaul (663-6282) for additional details.
