Dear Editor,
I must comment his Excellency for visiting Region Five. The visit lasted for just about a hour and was attended by mostly farmers since it was an RPA event. However I will like to thank the RDC of Region Five for the work that is being done on the Bush Lot School Street (Middle Dam).
This Street affords access to residents of the Bush Lot New Scheme, Bush Lot Secondary, Primary and Nursery Schools, the burial ground, the playground, the turf club and the health centre.
This street was in a bad state until a few days before schools reopened. It was with great admiration that we, the residents of the area, saw that just two days before the actual date for the school to reopen the street was rehabilitated.
We did not know that the rehabilitation work was done to let the President see the good street that his administration is making.
The street was done very poorly. The contractor just filled the potholes with crusher run, then threw some liquid tar and polished it off with sand. I would like the RDC to tell us the taxpayers how much money rehabilitating that street could cost. The entire street took just about two and a half days to complete.
I must also state that it was very astonishing that the very man who is destroying the streets in Woodley Park stood up and talked about development.
He asked his Excellency if money is being allocated to the region or MMA to develop lands for cattle farmers to place their cattle.
This is why we in Guyana cannot move forward because people are being placed in positions because of their political ties in this Government. Here is a man who heads the Agriculture Sub Committee and is an RDC Councillor but yet does not have any knowledge of the regional budget allocations and the functions of his sub committee.
This government needs not polish issues by sending its models to ask questions so as to deceive the people.
So on behalf of the residents, teachers and students we will like to say thanks to the President for your visit since this allowed us to have a better street.
