Brentnol Bryan, of Linden Squatting Area was yesterday placed on $150,000 bail when he faced Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on two fraud charges, following his detention by immigration officials for allegedly being in possession of a counterfeit travel document.
Bryan, 33, pleaded not guilty to the allegation that between August 27 and September 9 of this year, he conspired with others to forge an Inter-Caribbean Travel Document and attempted to use the said document as a lawful way of traveling.
Reports are that on Sunday, September 9, Bryan was intercepted by a female police rank of the immigration department on duty at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, as he attempted to use the falsified document to board a flight to Trinidad and Tobago.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that he had no objection to the defendant being given his pre-trial liberty but that the condition of bail be that Bryan report to the fraud squad department at the CID headquarters every Friday.
The magistrate granted the man bail and ordered that he report to the CID as requested by the prosecutor.
Bryan will return to court on October 8.
